With an estimated 2 million people with significant sight problems in the UK, there is a huge potential need for large print books. FOCUS is a pilot project to trial the market for Large Print books in bookshops. FOCUS is leading the way to demonstrate that there is a demand from people who want to buy books printed in a larger font size. The campaign is designed to encourage readers who are frustrated with standard font size and to cater for life-long readers who are experiencing sight difficulties due to age.

The intial 53 books are published under the FOCUS logo. The aim of the project is to increase the number of accessible format books available to those who struggle to read standard print size and to enable people to go into a bookshop on the high street and order a book in an appropriate format. There is further information about retailers and online stores on our where to buy large print books page. You can also find stores via our Store Locator.

FOCUS was initiated and funded by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and the Publishers Licensing Society (PLS). The books are published by RNIB in association with BBC Audiobooks, Penguin, Random House and HarperCollins. The Publishers Licensing Society (PLS) is a not-for-profit organisation that serves the UK publishing industry by working to protect publishers’ rights, and leads on industry-wide initiatives involving rights management and collective licensing. RNIB is the leading charity working in the UK offering practical support, advice and information for anyone with sight difficulties. RNIB is a registered charity - number 226227.
